In the 'Loft
Played a couple of games of Castle Ravenloft, a collaborative tile exploration game based on Dungeons and Dragons 4th edition rules and the associated traits and powers of the system.
A fun, relatively quick to play dungeon raid game. A big box game with high quality components including plastic minatures and thick, glossy, cardboard tiles. The Monsters provided are mostly undead types, which fits in nicely with the classic Ravenloft theme.

Four Elves...
Dragonlance finally kicked off on Wednesday with the obligatory party meet up in the local drinking hole (somewhere in post Dragon War northern Ergoth). Usual banter with annoying landlord and even more annoying singing Gnome and his magical musical mandolin. Even worse Igrane joined in the resultant karaoke. He's got a good singing voice but despite enquires he's remaining very elusive about his own background.
Looks like we're one down in the party already as we've not heard a word from the newbie, Lawrence. Since he never joined the party proper we don't even get the chance to loot the body.
Could soon be two down as my cleric has already been dropped down to negative in the first combat with Goblins. The green creatures seem to be running some sort of sting operation with the suspected assistance of the Gnome. First he spreads rumours of attacks on neighbouring villages by a Dragon, then the Goblins use some mechanical contrivance to pretend to be the thing approaching, scaring the villagers off, and leaving the place empty to be looted at leisure.
The party is slowly turning the battle round despite being split up at the start of combat. Solaris the Mages' luck held up as he managed to avoid repeated attacks against him until Igrane could move in and assist him. Azacel, who had spent the night in a tree outside the Inn, ditched trying to shoot the Goblins at range thru the heavy morning fog to move in for some close-up work.

More Character and Characters
The Dragonlance characters are being rounded out and the back history is slowly falling into place. Unfortunately one of us (the newbie) was missing and so that curtailed us from starting to game proper. It does look like the Kagonesti (Azacel Cyredeldith) is going to end up being my cleric's (Khoolmesh Elsith) 'manservant'.
Also a set of 3.5 edition characters were started to be generated for a proposed 'Ghostwalk' campaign that I'm scheduled to GM! This will be the first time that Johnny and Eg will have played 3rd Ed so it'll be interesting to find out what they think of it compared to 2nd. In a few decades we may get round to playing 4th Edition!
Given the current list of proposed characters things could get very weird. It's probably a good thing that in the Ghostwalk setting death is'nt terminal.
- Half-Orc Barbarian
- Dwarf Fighter
- Human Rogue (wannabe Assassin)
- Halfling Sorcerer

Back in the Role
For the first time in too many years I'm finally back Role-playing.
Johnny is DMing and the campaign is being set the game in the Dragonlance world of Krynn. We are going retro and playing with 2nd Ed. Dungeons and Dragons rules. This will be the first time I have played Dragonlance proper having mostly played in Greyhawk. Scott did do a pseudo-dragonlance setting once, and I'm versed in the background so playing there should be no problem.
The first session was just the usual rolling of characters, which was a lot slower than expected due to the amount of laughter and silly comments being made. Not surprising given the amount of history that the group needed to catch up on. A quick combat at the end so that the new guy got some idea how it works (And a reminder for the rest of us as to how THAC0 works!)
With five players as well as the DM hopefully there is a good chance that this group will last rather than peter out like previous groups have done.
List of Characters (no names yet, our brains were hurting by the end of the night.)
- Kagonesti Warrior
- Silvanesti Cleric - Order of the Stars (Mishakal)
- Qualinesti Mage
- Human Paladin - Knight of the Crown
- Silvanesti Thief (shifty looking - is in fact a Irda)
An Elf dominated line up. Something tells me that the elves are going to be arguing a lot!
