Cross Road Blues

A bit early for Robert Johnson, as two early Great War forces clash. 1914 French and Germans close upon the ruins of a small hamlet based at the crossroads.

Full Company

A large Company vs Company game, about three times bigger than a standard Lance on Lance game. Fought over two maps.

The traditional 'Conga line' soon occurred. With kicks and punches doing more damage than the weapons.

From Furness Wargamers in the Future

The Dam started to look a bit dodgy but didn't give way, and no one shot at it to try and help it on its way.

There was no way that the game could be completed in a single night, so it'll be finish on another night, and with the promise of air support to liven things up.

Turkey Shoot

Russians vs Turks (and Germans in Fezes)

Scenario based loosely on the actions in the Black Sea of the Battle-cruiser Goeben and Light-cruiser Breslau, after their escape from the Mediterranean and transfer to the Ottoman Navy.

Turk reinforcements were restricted to only one side of the board and it was up to the two fugitive ships to make their way to safety.

If they had decided to sail straight across then they would probably have managed to get across the tables without coming to much harm, as the Russian big ships were just not fast enough to keep pace with the more advanced German designs.

Instead they decided to circle for a bit, possibly hoping that the remaining Turks could take some of the Russian ships out. After a tussle between the Russians and the Turks, the Germans finally make a break for it.

One final attempt By the Russians at slowing the ships down with a torpedo run from the destroyers failed, and the Germans were then too far away to catch in a chase.

Colonial Ogre

A Colonial game but with a difference as it was played using a modification of the Ogre rules. These have been tweaked by Paul since the last attempt as using them to give a more traditional Colonial flavour.

Typical Sudan game, hordes of Ansar and Hadendoa verses British, Egyptian and Sudanese.Paul and Tony are Imperialists and their lackeys. The two Dave's heroic Mahdists and coastal allies.

Late Roman Report

A bit belated but someone other than the Furness Wargamers enjoyed this years game at Phalanx.

While doing a google image search I came across an overhead shot of the game that links back to a show report from Gareth Wood. Did a search in the period after Phalanx but never picked this one up.

Phalanx is on Saturday 18th June 2011 next year. Hopefully it wont be snowing then. Had to cancel my planned trip down to Pudsey on Saturday for the Recon Show due to the bad weather.

Suprise Attack

Bit of a shock at the Games Night as I was asked to GM a game of Battletech as Martin, the GM of the ongoing campaign, was bust elsewhere for the first part of the night.

My main worries was if there was any major differences between the more recent rulebooks and Martin's colection of classic material, and trying to study the mech sheets to work out optimum ranges and heat usages for the variety of Mechs. It's a lot harder than running a single one, and the old style mech sheets are not as helpful for weapon and heat info as the newer ones are.

Before going to his meeting Martin gave each player their own secret 'special' objective. Turns out at the end of the night most of these fall into the silly category, such as making sure the bases vile canteen gets destroyed.

Busy Busy

Been a bit busy over the last month or so, hence there's currently no posts in October. Hopefully I'll be able to do catch up for this period as I still have pictures and half written posts for most weeks.
