A game of Battlegroup Tobruk
The first time most of us have played a game from this rules family.
British vs Italians, but with the British constrained in the amount of ammo they had to wrestle the objective off the initially weak Italians.
The most effective anti-tank weapon proved to be the artillery which was brought up from their original positions on the ridge. The Italian tankettes did provide some opposition, as did their heavier armour on the opposing ridge line. concentrating their fire on the artillery positions prior to their destruction as the British Matildas moved slowly forward.
The British were rapidly running out of ammo but managed to suppress all the remaining Italian armour, so effectively they would (with decent dice rolling) get a free turn to move closer, and greatly improving their chances in what would have been a final round of fire. The game got called prior to this as the Italians conceded.
The infantry didn't get to play much of a roll in this game, with only the Italian unit holding the objective being active.
The game was quick paced despite being a bit table heavy, with favourable comparisons being made by the participants to both Bolt Action and Rapid Fire.

Makalle Melee
Finally got round to using my 15mm Abyssinian and Italian figures once again after a long absence. A game of Principles of War, my colonial rules of choice.
This scenario is based on a reported incident that never actually happened but still made the press. It's January 1896 during the siege of Makalle\Mek'ele. The capital of Tigre is once more in the hands of the forces of Emperor Menelik, but with the minor wrinkle that there is a unit of Italian lead Askari that are holding up in the fort, on the heights of Enda Yesus, that overlooks the city.

Curse of the Jabberwocky
The Victory conditions are revealed as the campaign reaches it's penultimate week.
As nine armies wait on the border of Papal lands, bad luck is brought-forth from going wilder-shins in the turn order, and from the use of the cursed bones of the Jabberwocky.
Add to that devilish engines of war, and more battles in one night than ever before, is 1500 the year of the Apocalypse? or will it be 1501?

Papal Problems
Things slow down as only the one year gets completed. No sea battles this year, but plenty of action over ports. And the Papal States start to get squeezed a bit.

Holy Roaming Empires
The (Un)Holy Roman Empire, or at least a small part of it, turns up under the command of Elector Jim. As the remaining neutral provinces get overrun things start to get a bit cramped on the mainland.

Papal Bull
After last weeks trial run it's time for a full blooded 'Italian States Campaign'.
Once again using a cut down Horde of the Things, with only 6 troop types (this time including Artillery) and a modified map based campaign system that now covers the whole of Italy and not just the north. Up to 9 states were available, each with differing amount of land and income. States were distributed randomly between the 6 players with 3 states left neutral. France and the (not so) Holy Roman Empire are out of bounds and the historic invasion by the French, to capture Naples, does not occur.
